PMI Achieves 250,000 Members
Members of PMI span the globe and represent the finest of the profession. Since the organization was founded in 1969, membership has soared to MORE THAN 250,000 in more than 170 countries. The number of PMP® credential holders is over 260,000.
Our members work in a range of industries. As reflected in a PM Network® magazine reader survey conducted in August 2005 by Research USA:
• 29 percent work in Information Technology or computer/software/data processing
• 13 percent work in financial services/insurance/real estate
• 11 percent work in consulting or business services
• 10 percent work in telecommunications or utilities
• 9 percent work in government/public administration or aerospace/defense
• 7 percent work in engineering or construction
• 7 percent work in healthcare or pharmaceuticals
Job titles range from project manager or director to portfolio manager, vice president, CEO or CIO. Nearly half (45 percent) have done some kind of post-graduate study, and 10 percent report 20 or more years of project management experience.
