The purpose and goal of this program is to develop, maintain, evaluate, promote and administer a rigorous, examination-based, professional certification program of the highest calibre.

To achieve PMP Certification, each candidate must satisfy all education and experiential requirements established by the PMI and demonstrate an acceptable and valid level of understanding and knowledge about project management that is tested by the Project Management Professional Certification Examination. In addition, those who have been granted the PMP credential must demonstrate ongoing professional commitment to the field of project management by satisfying Professional Development Program requirements.

The examination is computer-based and comprises 200 multiple-choice questions. The allotted time to complete the examination is 4 hours. The examination is offered exclusively through Prometric, a leading worldwide provider of comprehensive, technology-based testing and assessment services. Prior to sitting the exam, you must lodge your application through the PMI in the USA web site (in the Professional Development - Certifications section of the site), however, the exam itself can be sat at any time throughout the year online exam application. Exam locations and contact details to arrange the examination will be advised once you have lodged your application to Prometric.

PMI Melbourne regularly conducts several 'Introduction to the PMI & PMP' sessions each year for those interested in finding out more about the PMP Certification Exam - please go to the relevant development pages on this web site.
