The PMI Melbourne Chapter was Incorporated in the State of Victoria on the 11th July 2000 after the membership voted for the Incorporation in May 2000. The chapter is now officially known as the Project Management Institute Melbourne Australia Chapter Inc., and should be referred to as such in all official correspondence. The Chapter is now bound by the Associations Incorporation Act (1981), and must conduct itself in accordance with the Rules of the Chapter which can be viewed in the Chapter Documents section of this website.

Incorporation is a strategic move for the Melbourne Chapter. It conveys legal status on the Chapter as an incorporated association and protects you, the member, from debts or other liabilities incurred through the operations of the Chapter.
